What is Natural?
Natural is also a phrase that has come into use for any product or service that is made with natural ingredients or raw materials and without chemical processing. For example, natural butter is produced from butterfat. Natural ingredients such as vitamins A, C and E, natural oils, natural fruit and vegetable extracts, and organic herbs and spices are all beneficial to the human body.
Unsweetened (or unprocessed) refers to products that have been left unprocessed (free of preservatives, additives and chemical processing) to provide a completely natural taste and feel. Unsweetened products also have a naturally low sugar content. Unsweetened products are generally more affordable and are often found in stores as alternatives to the processed, sweetened foods that are marketed for weight loss. They are also commonly used as a natural and inexpensive alternative to artificial sweeteners. For more information about the nutritional value of products, visit Healthy Food Guide.
Raw foods have all of the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that are present in a natural state and have not been processed. Because they are natural, they often contain less sodium and less sugar than processed foods. Raw foods are usually not as high in fat, cholesterol, and sodium as processed foods, and some processed foods are higher in sodium.
